Diamond Engagement Ring with Emerald Halo

The Florence ring is an Art Deco diamond engagement ring with emerald halo that was converted from a brooch circa 1920! This gorgeous ring centers a  antique pear cut diamond weighing 1.57 carats of H color, VS2 clarity. The diamond is bezel set in platinum and surrounded by a halo of calibre cut emeralds! The diamond and emeralds are lined with millegrain detail, and the gallery of the ring has scrolling, open metalwork all around. The platinum band is thin and lined with delicate fluting! The ring is size 6 and can be resized!

Why We Love It

Antique pears are some of the prettiest stones—and this one, with its excellent specs, is no exception! The emerald halo adds a desirable pop of color and the fine details make this ring gorgeous and unique! The contrast in color is mirrored in the contrast of size between the large center stone and the thin emerald halo. The band is thin as well, and wonderfully simple, accented with delicate fluting and adorned with the lovely open metalwork of the gallery. Such a vintage stunner!

Say Hello To Halos!

Perhaps the most interesting part of the Florence ring is how it reveals the development of the classic halo style. Although halos have been around since the 18th Century, they started to gain popularity in the Victorian era and then again in the Art Deco period of the 1920s.

The Florence ring fits well with Art Deco fashion, which was inspired by architecture, symmetry and bold, geometric shapes. However, there are still Victorian roots beneath the surface. The ornate open metalwork of the gallery is reminiscent of Victorian and Edwardian styles, which were more organic in design—originally, halos were crafted to look like flowers!

Benefits Of A Halo Engagement Ring

Still looking for a reason to fall in love with this ring? Here are just a few of the reasons this diamond engagement ring with emerald halo works so well:

  • Halos make the central stone look bigger
  • They work well with various diamond shapes
  • When made up of colored stones, halos can provide wonderful contrast
  • They also provide a contrast in faceting and texture!
